Offline Projects

I decided to build a set of chairs for our backyard to match the colors in the landscape across seasons and times of the day. I spent many hours observing the light and matching colors - wheat, grass, mountain shadow, sky blue, sunset …

We had an ugly tan shed. Instead of getting rid of it, I built cedar doors, added windows, and painted it blue. Then we had a charming little garden shed for a fraction of the price.

I also did a sketch of a friend’s vintage Ural.

We also made a quilt with Kasper’s clothes, largely Hanna Andersson pajamas for those whose kids also grew up wearing these — sometimes around the clock :).

I love vegetables. And I love to paint them, too.

Mikaela’s birthday came in quarantine, and so this card was intended to surround her with the love of all her family who couldn’t see her in person.

Kasper loved the color orange, and loved seals. So it’s only natural that we transformed his tee shirt into a new seal for his collection. Meet Murph, complete with a wax nose that eventually melted in the dryer.

Named for the dress that Mikaela bought in San Fransisco’s Chinatown, and modeled after her favorite bear, Smithy.

After many seals, it was time for an octopus. Meet Oozy, our eight tentacled friend.

A friend and former colleague was tying the knot in a gorgeous castle by the sea and asked me to do the honor of painting the setting for their invitation.

My mom and stepdad were getting married in a Quaker ceremony and wanted a registry in the style of Edward Hicks’ Peaceable Kingdom. My favorite thing about the finished product is Kasper’s six year old signature.

Our good boy, Arlo, was our half Pyrenees, half Lab. We said goodbye to him in 2026, and I found myself sketching him often during his last months.

Mikaela’s birthday came along early in quarantine and we couldn’t see family, so I sketched all her family surrounding her.

Brad was our fantastic plant manager at Vermont Creamery, and a silly caricature was the best way to wish him well.

I love sitting in a camp chair by the fire and sketching whatever I see…this time, Kasper splitting wood.

When my nephew Max was on the way I painted the walls of his nursery with a surround sound mural from the Wild Things.

I love Richard Scarry, so when Kasper was on the way I painted a set of flight-inspired canvases for his nursery walls.

Swampy (the green frog) and Reesy (the orange frog) were constant companions for Mikaela as a toddler. So I woodburned a sign for her door with her two favorite friends.
